The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has shed light on why former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has not been sanctioned despite his controversial role in recent political developments.

According to party insiders, disciplinary measures against Wike have been delayed to allow ongoing reconciliation efforts within the PDP to gain traction. Leaders of the party say they are prioritizing unity and stability ahead of upcoming elections, stressing that punitive actions could further deepen divisions at a critical time.

While Wike’s critics argue that his actions undermine the party’s cohesion, others within the PDP believe dialogue and negotiation remain the best approach to resolving internal disputes. The leadership, however, maintained that no member, regardless of position, is above the party’s constitution and disciplinary framework.

Analysts suggest that how the PDP handles Wike’s case could determine its strength and relevance in the evolving political landscape, especially as opposition parties strategize for future contests.
