Peter Obi’s Political Influence Declining – Lagos Labour Party

By Diafa Doubra,
The Lagos State chapter of the Labour Party has said that the political influence of former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is gradually fading across the country.
The state chairman of the party explained that Obi, who enjoyed massive support during the 2023 elections, has lost momentum due to poor follow-up on his campaign promises and lack of strong grassroots engagement after the polls. According to him, many Nigerians who once rallied behind the “Obidient” movement now feel disconnected as economic hardship deepens and no clear direction has been communicated from Obi’s camp.
He stressed that while Obi remains a respected figure in Nigeria’s political landscape, the Labour Party in Lagos is focused on rebuilding its structure and preparing for future elections, rather than depending solely on Obi’s popularity.
Political observers note that the remarks may reflect internal party struggles and a broader shift in Nigeria’s opposition politics as attention gradually turns toward the 2027 general elections.
