Police Arrest 11 More Suspects Over Ozoro Sexual Assault Incident
By Chukwunonso Eric, Warri.
The Delta State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on suspects linked to the alleged sexual assault incidents in Oramudu Quarters, Ozoro, announcing the arrest of eleven additional individuals.
In a statement issued on March 21, 2026, the Command said the latest development follows earlier reports that sparked public concern across the state.
Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) was deployed to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
Police operatives, after analysing video footage and intelligence gathered, arrested the additional suspects identified as Samson Atukpodo, Steven Ovie, Ugbevo Samson, Afoke Akporobaro, Evidence Oguname, and six others. The new arrests bring the total number of suspects currently in custody to fifteen.
The Command noted that preliminary investigations indicate that the incident was carried out by criminal elements who took advantage of the situation to perpetrate acts of sexual violence, stressing that such actions are not reflective of any legitimate cultural practice.
Condemning the incident, CP Aina Adesola reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring that all perpetrators are brought to justice. He assured residents that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals connected to the crime.
The Police also called on members of the public, especially victims and witnesses, to provide useful information that could aid the investigation, assuring that all information received will be treated with strict confidentiality.
The statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe.
