Police Arrest Mother of Newborn Dumped in Nasarawa Bush

The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a young mother who allegedly abandoned her newborn baby in a bush.

According to police reports, residents of the area discovered the infant after hearing cries coming from the bush. They quickly alerted authorities, who rescued the baby and rushed it to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Further investigations led to the arrest of the mother, who reportedly confessed to abandoning the child due to personal and financial difficulties. Police sources disclosed that the suspect is currently in custody and will face charges related to child neglect and attempted infanticide.

The incident has sparked outrage among locals, who condemned the act and called for stronger sensitization on reproductive health, counseling, and support for vulnerable women.

Meanwhile, the Nasarawa State Police Command reiterated its commitment to protecting the rights of children and urged citizens to report similar cases promptly.
