Police Arrest Over 270 Suspects in Delta Crackdown on Crime, Drug Activities
By Chukwunonso Eric, Warri.
The Delta State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal activities across the state, arresting over 270 suspects during coordinated raids on identified black spots in Warri, Uvwie, Jeddo, and Ughelli.
The operations, carried out on March 25 and 26, 2026, were part of sustained efforts by the Command to dismantle criminal networks and curb the proliferation of illicit drugs within the region.
On March 25, operatives led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, and drawn from the Buffalo Operational Team alongside other tactical units, stormed targeted locations in Warri South, Uvwie, and Okpe Local Government Areas. The intelligence-driven raid, based on credible information from the State Intelligence Department (SID), covered Ugbrumu and Jeddo communities.
A total of 59 suspects—comprising 51 males and eight females—were arrested during the operation. The police disclosed that several of the locations raided, including a notorious bush bar, served as hideouts for criminal elements. Some of the affected hotels were reportedly operating as brothels, providing shelter for suspected cultists and other offenders already on the Command’s watch list.
Items recovered from the suspects include substances suspected to be codeine, crack cocaine, “loud,” “colos,” and Indian hemp.
In a follow-up operation on March 26, DCP Adejobi led another team comprising operatives from the Crack Squad, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), and Buffalo Squad to raid criminal hotspots within Ughelli town. The operation targeted locations known for drug-related activities, including Epini Hotel along the Ughelli–Patani Expressway, Torsac Hotel, and Primaria Guest House.
The raid led to the arrest of 213 additional suspects. Authorities noted that several of the raided establishments were being used as brothels and safe havens for criminal operations. Recovered exhibits included large quantities of substances suspected to be Canadian loud, CSC syrup, tramadol, swinol, and Indian hemp.
All suspects and exhibits have been transferred to the Divisional Police Officer in charge of ‘A’ Division, Ughelli, as well as units of the Rapid Response Squad and the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring that all offenders are brought to justice, while assuring residents that similar operations will continue across the state, including Sapele and surrounding areas.
He also urged members of the public to support law enforcement efforts by providing timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and detection.
The statement was issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, on behalf of the Delta State Command.
