The men of Lagos state police command have fired one of its officers, simply identified as Sargent Ekpo Shimuyere for extorting a man the sum of N98,000
It was gathered that out of N100,000 that was in the bank account of the victim, the dismissed police officer used POS to collect N98,000 and left N2000 for the young man.
This was affirmed by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the force spokesperson, who asserted that the command has already disrobed the police officer.
Hundeyin stated that when the victim reported the incident, the police officer firstly denied the allegation to the crime, but after thorough investigation, the command was able to know that the police officer collected the money through POS.
It was reported that the victim was invited during investigation, and the POS operator was also invited and both testify against the Sergeant.
However, the Lagos Police Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa approved the dismissal of the Sergeant from police force.
The Commissioner used the opportunity to warned other police officers to desist from corruption and bribery.
