The Nigeria Police Force on Friday, 11 October, paraded twelve suspects arrested in connection with the armed robbery that led to the deaths of Arise News staff member, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, and a security guard, Barnabas Danlami, at Unique Apartments, Katampe Extension, Abuja, on 29 September 2025.

Parading the suspects before journalists, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the arrests followed a “coordinated, intelligence-driven investigation” launched immediately after the incident.

Hundeyin identified the suspects as Shamsudeen Hassan, Hassan Isah (22), Abubakar Alkamu alias Abba (27), Sani Sirajo alias Dan Borume (20), Mashkur Jamilu alias Abba (28), Suleiman Badamasi alias Dan-Sule (21), Abdulsalam Saleh alias Na-Durudu, Zaharadeen Muhammad alias Gwaska (23), Musa Adamu alias Musa Hassan (30), Sumayya Mohammed alias Baby (27), Isah Abdulrahman alias Abbati (25), and Musa Umar alias Small (31).

Items recovered from the suspects include a locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, a locally made pistol, a pump-action gun, 36 live rounds of 9mm ammunition, two live cartridges, four mobile phones, two sharp knives, a cutlass, and two flashlights.

According to the police investigation, the fatal shot that killed Mr Danlami was allegedly fired by Shamsudeen Hassan after the guard attempted to prevent the gang from gaining access to the apartment complex.

Hundeyin further disclosed that the suspects sourced their weapons from a supplier in Niger Republic and had been linked to several other armed robbery operations across Katampe I, Apo, Zuba, and other parts of the Federal Capital Territory.
