Police recover four AK-47 rifles in Kano

The Kano police command has announced the recovery of four AK-47 assault rifles during a stop-and-search operation conducted by the Safer Highway Patrol team at Kwanar Garko, Garko LGA, Kano State, along the Kano–Bauchi road.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna, said this in a statement on Friday
The police added that the rifles were recovered when the team intercepted a driver of a commercial bus who was trying to change direction while one of the passengers came down holding a suspicious item.
“Following the swift response by the team, the occupant dropped the item, zoomed off and escaped the scene. Upon a search, a sack was found containing four AK-47 rifles.”
He further emphasized that the command is intensifying efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects, saying residents should report incidents, suspicious persons, movement or items to the nearest police station.
The police command urged members of the public to call any of the command’s emergency numbers, 08032419754, 08123821575, 0807609127 and 09029292926.
