Police uncover arms concealed in a lemon sack, 9 sack of Indian hemp and arrested bandit

The Zamfara State Police Command have succeeded in apprehending notorious bandit kingpin, recovered arms and ammunition as well as rescued kidnapped victims.
The state commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Maikaba announced this in a press briefing held at the police headquarters, Unguwar Gwaza,Gusau.
CP Maikaba said, Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command while on routine patrol along Gummi-Sokoto Road, intercepted a Toyota Corolla car convening passengers with 4 AK 47 rifles and ammunition.
“Our men while on a stop and search succeeded in recovering 4 AK-47 rifles, 200 rounds of PKT ammunition, 28 rounds of AK-47 ammunition and 4 empty AK-47 magazines belonging to one Nasuru Dawan Jiya, who confessed to transporting the weapons to bandits in Gurusu Village investigation is ongoing and efforts are underway to arrest other accomplices and dismantle the entire supply chain. CP Maikaba said.
CP Maikaba further said, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command arrested Muhammadu Dan Kani of 57 years old, popularly known as “Akki” from Kuraje in Bungudu LGA.
Maikaba said, the suspect was apprehended in Funtua, Katsin State, following credible intelligence linking to the numerous kidnapping cases across the state.
The police commissioner further said, the suspect is part of the criminal syndicate known for orchestrating high profile kidnapping within Damba, Mareri and Saminaka areas all in Gusau L.G.A.
CP Ibrahim Maikaba also revealed that, in a joint operation led by Divisional Police Officer Talata Mafara, CSP Garba Musa Mahuta, in collaboration with Community Protection Guards (CPG) and local vigilantes, successfully rescued five (5) kidnapped victims from Wanu Village in Anka LGA
“The victims were intercepted while being relocated by their captors from a bandits’ camp in Barikin Daji forest through Maradun LGA. A fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in their safe rescue. All victims were medically checked and reunited with their families. CP Maikaba stated.
The Police Command further arrested a gun runners along Gusau-Kaura Namoda Road named Haruna Musa, a 30 years old from Rawayya Village, in Bungudu LGA of Zamfara State conveying 11 fabricated firearms, Twenty-five (25) rounds of AK-47 ammunition and Six (6) live cartridges.
“Investigation is currently ongoing to uncover the firearm manufacturing source and apprehend other members of the network. The Police Command said.
The police command also based on credible intelligence, succeeded in arresting one Alhaji Shehu Aliyu in Gurusu Village with nine (9) sacks of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
The Commissioner of Police commended the efforts of the operatives involved in these operations for their exceptional bravery, professionalism, and commitment.
Maikaba said the recorded achievements reflect the ongoing transformation and renewed vigor within the Zamfara State Police Command and also assure the good people of Zamfara State that the Police Command remains steadfast in its determination to eliminate criminal activities and ensure the safety of all residents.
The police command also decorated 10 newly promoted police officers and served recommendation letter to the officer led the successful operations.
The command urged members of the public to support the Police by providing timely and actionable information.
