The Obidient Movement has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration of attempting to derail the political ambitions of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi. National Coordinator of the movement, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, alleged that the federal government has been strategically undermining political parties associated with Obi, including by fostering internal crises and using state institutions to frustrate their growth.

Tanko described these moves as a deliberate effort to weaken opposition forces ahead of the 2027 general elections. He warned that such actions not only threaten democratic principles but also risk alienating millions of young Nigerians who rallied behind Obi’s reformist campaign in 2023. The Presidency has yet to issue an official response to the allegations.
