Presidency Counters Atiku’s Hunger Claim, Cites Economic Progress

By Diafa Doubra,
The Presidency has dismissed claims by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar that Nigerians are being ravaged by hunger under the current administration.
In a statement on Monday, government officials insisted that while challenges remain, the economy is showing signs of recovery. They pointed to a steady rise in the country’s foreign reserves and a gradual decline in inflation as proof that economic reforms are beginning to yield results.
The Presidency argued that Atiku’s comments were politically motivated and failed to reflect the gains recorded in sectors such as agriculture, energy, and infrastructure. It further assured citizens that ongoing policies will ease the cost of living and stabilise the economy in the long term.
Atiku, who has remained one of the most vocal critics of the Tinubu-led government, had earlier accused the administration of failing to address food insecurity and worsening poverty.
