Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has welcomed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the state for the commissioning of four legacy projects. The projects included a 60-megawatt gas-fired turbine, the Angiama-Oporoma Bridge, the Bayelsa West segment of the Sagbama-Ekeremor-Agge road, and a dualized road in New Yenagoa City.

In his address, Governor Diri expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his government’s decisive policy interventions, which have enabled meaningful reforms in various sectors. He highlighted the benefits of the projects, including improved energy supply, reduced travel times, and increased economic activity.

The Angiama-Oporoma Bridge, a long-overdue project, will connect over 60 communities and kingdoms, stimulating economic growth and development. The Sagbama-Ekeremor-Agge road will improve connectivity and accessibility, integrating marginalized settlements into the state economy.

Diri also acknowledged the federal government’s support, citing waivers for turbine imports and the award of the Nembe/Brass Road project. He requested further assistance with road projects and reimbursement for completed phases.

President Tinubu’s visit marks a significant milestone in Bayelsa State’s development, demonstrating the power of connectivity and cooperation. The projects commissioned will drive economic growth, improve living standards, and unlock new opportunities for the people of Bayelsa.
