Britain’s Prince Andrew, the second son of the late Queen Elizabeth II, has been formally stripped of his royal titles and ordered to vacate his Windsor residence, Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday, 30 October.
The move comes amid mounting scrutiny over Andrew’s association with the late convicted s£x offender Jeffrey Epstein.
In a statement, Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles had “initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours” from his younger brother.

“Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor,” the statement read — marking a significant escalation from earlier measures announced two weeks ago, when he was told to cease using certain titles, including the Duke of York.
The palace added that the “censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.”
“Their Majesties, King Charles and Queen Camilla, wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse,” the statement continued.
The palace further revealed that a formal notice had been issued requiring Andrew to vacate his residence, the Royal Lodge near Windsor Castle.
“His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence. Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation,” the palace stated.
Andrew is expected to relocate to a property on the royal family’s private Sandringham estate. His daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, will retain their titles.
In a statement released two weeks earlier, Andrew acknowledged that “continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family.”
“As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me,” he reiterated.
