The political situation in Rivers State took another twist on Thursday as the State House of Assembly resumed plenary, but Governor Siminalayi Fubara was noticeably absent.

Lawmakers convened at the Assembly complex under heavy security, where key issues concerning the state were tabled for discussion. Their return to session comes amid weeks of political tension and legal battles following the leadership crisis that has rocked the state.

Observers noted that the governor’s absence raised fresh questions about the lingering rift between the executive and the legislature. Some political analysts see it as a sign that reconciliation efforts between Governor Fubara and the Assembly may still be far from yielding results.

Despite the tension, the lawmakers assured the public that legislative business would continue unhindered, stressing their commitment to the stability and governance of Rivers State.
