Rivers Crisis: PDP Warns Fubara Against Defection, Demands Probe of Interim Rule

By Diafa Doubra,
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, against dumping the party amid speculations of possible defection.
In a statement on Tuesday, the PDP leadership stressed that Fubara remains a beneficiary of the party’s platform and warned that leaving the PDP would amount to betraying the mandate freely given by Rivers people in the 2023 election.
The party also demanded a thorough probe into allegations of an “interim government” arrangement being pushed in the state, describing it as unconstitutional and a threat to democracy.
According to the PDP, any attempt to undermine its dominance in Rivers through political manoeuvres will be resisted, while it urged loyal members to remain steadfast ahead of future elections.
