Rivers Political Crisis May Worsen – ADC Chairman

By Diafa Doubra,
The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ralph Nwosu, has warned that the political crisis in Rivers State is far from over despite recent attempts at reconciliation between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
In an interview with journalists, Nwosu described the peace moves as a “temporary truce” that fails to address the deeper political divisions in the state. He argued that both parties are still locked in a battle for supremacy, and unless genuine dialogue is pursued, the crisis could escalate further.
The ADC leader also criticised the culture of political godfatherism, which he said continues to undermine governance in Rivers and other states. He urged stakeholders to prioritise the welfare of the people over personal interests, stressing that only inclusiveness and accountability can restore lasting peace.
The Rivers crisis has remained a flashpoint in Nigeria’s political scene, with tensions between loyalists of Governor Fubara and supporters of his predecessor, Wike, threatening stability in the oil-rich state.
