Rivers State Students in ABU Seek Aid from Governor Fubara
By Abdullahi Alhassan, Kaduna
Indigenes of Rivers State studying in Ahmadu Bello University Zaria have lamented over neglect by successive administrations in the state.
They said the past and the present administrations in the state have been insensitive and nonchalant to their plights.
President Rivers State Students Union, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria Chapter, Akio Jonah Kikpoye stated this during a meeting of the union.
He noted that members of the union lack access to bursary allowances and scholarship, thereby affecting their studies.
He explained that members of the union have not benefitted from any scholarship and bursary allowances being given by the Rivers state government. Akio Kikpoye also said lack of funds to cater for the needs of their members is negatively affecting them.
President of the union said the Rivers state students in Ahmadu Bello University do not have a Secretariat to be holding meetings and other activities to give members a sense of belonging.
He said they have been lodging their complaints since the last administration but to no avail.
He therefore appealed to Governor Siminalayi Fubara and other well-meaning individuals to come to their aid by giving them scholarship and bursary allowances to ease their studies
