The Kwara State Government has ordered the immediate closure of schools across four local government areas following intelligence reports of a possible terror attack. The affected councils—Isin, Irepodun, Ifelodun, and Ekiti—were placed on high alert late Thursday after security agencies warned of unusual movements linked to armed groups operating around the state’s boundaries. School authorities were directed to suspend academic activities until further notice, a move officials say is necessary to prevent potential loss of lives.

Parents and community leaders have expressed concern over the abrupt shutdown but acknowledged the gravity of the security situation. Many residents say the decision reflects the growing spread of insecurity into previously calm regions of the North Central zone. Meanwhile, the state government says it is working closely with federal security agencies to tighten patrols, secure vulnerable communities, and evaluate when schools can safely reopen.
