President Tinubu assents to NMU establishment bill

By Peters Monday, Abuja
President Bola Tinubu signed the Maritime university establishment bill into law. This was followed by the passing of the bill to establish the Nigeria Maritime University in Okerenkoko, Delta State in earlier date by the senate.
The house of representatives members representing Burutu federal constituency, RT. Hon. Julius Pondi posted in Facebook account today at about 9:59 that the bill has been signed to law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
It’s worth noting that a similar bill was rejected by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 due to concerns over funding. But with the Senate’s recent passage, the Nigeria Maritime University is one step closer to becoming a reality.
The source emphasised, “The proposed university aimed to promote learning, identify technological problems in the maritime industry, and develop academic and professional programs. Let’s keep an eye on this development, and hopefully, we’ll get an update on the President’s decision soon!”.
