Senator Orji Kalu Confirms Attempted Plot to Remove Senate President Akpabio
By Diafa Doubra,
Former Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has revealed that there was a recent attempt within the Nigerian Senate to impeach the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio. Speaking in Abuja, Kalu described the move as a “family misunderstanding” that was quickly resolved before it could escalate into a full-blown crisis.
The senator representing Abia North explained that while some lawmakers had expressed dissatisfaction with Akpabio’s leadership style, the situation was contained through dialogue and mutual understanding. “There was no serious fight; it was just a family issue which has been settled,” Kalu said, emphasizing the need for unity among senators to deliver on their legislative responsibilities.
He urged his colleagues to put aside political differences and focus on enacting laws that would improve the country’s economy and security. The revelation comes amid growing speculation of internal divisions within the 10th National Assembly, though Kalu assured that the Senate remains stable under Akpabio’s leadership.
