Shettima demands fundamental shift in Nigeria’s privatisation agenda

The vice president Kashim Shettima has demanded a paradigm shift in Nigeria’s privatization from simply selling state-owned enterprises to asset optimisation.

Shettima State this today in Abuja, while chairing the third meeting of the National Council on Privatisation (NCP).

The meeting discussed issues where critical decisions were taken, including the approval to follow through on the engagement with Transcorp Power Consortium to secure execution of the Performance Agreements (PAs) on the sale of Afam Power Plc and Afam III Fast Power Limited.

The vice president who posted the brief of the meeting on his social media handle stated the target of the meeting.

“The target is to regularise outstanding conditions and operational targets for the post-acquisition plan and ensure the commercial viability of the plant. Shettima said.

“The Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) had submitted a request for council’s approval to engage with Transcorp Power Consortium.

“In my remarks, I demanded a fundamental shift in Nigeria’s privatisation agenda, urging a move from simply selling state-owned enterprises to asset optimisation designed to power the nation’s trillion-dollar economy ambition.
