Shettima to Deliver Tinubu’s UNGA Address

By Diafa Doubra,
Vice President Kashim Shettima will today represent President Bola Tinubu at the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, where he is expected to deliver Nigeria’s national statement.
According to the Presidency, Shettima will highlight Nigeria’s stance on key global issues, including security, climate change, economic reforms, and international cooperation. The statement is also expected to reassure the global community of Nigeria’s commitment to democratic values and sustainable development.
Government sources noted that the decision for Shettima to deliver the address was in line with President Tinubu’s confidence in his deputy to represent the country effectively on the world stage. Shettima is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with leaders of other nations on the sidelines of the assembly.
The UNGA, which has drawn world leaders and diplomats from across the globe, continues this week with debates on pressing international challenges.
