Concerned Stakeholders in Delta State have urged the Federal Government to withdraw the operational license of Sterling Global Company over Attempted Murder and brutality of a staff, Mr. Israel Edafe.

Some stakeholders who frowned at the inhumane treatment of Mr Edafe, asked the government to vacate the operational license of the company to serve as deterrent to others with such reckless actions towards staff and host communities.

Congress gathered that the company allegedly torture and attempted extra-judicial killing through soldiers attached to Rig 5 Military Base in Okpai/Kwale axis, Delta State for reporting a suspected theft of fuel under the security custody. The victim, Mr. Israel Edafe, a staff of Sterling Global, was allegedly subjected to inhumane treatment by the soldiers on March 23, 2026.

According to a petition filed by his lawyers, Ogedege & Ogedege, Edafe was brutally assaulted, hung upside down, bathed with hot water, and tortured until he lost consciousness. The incident occurred after Edafe reported a diesel theft incident at the company’s site to the Chief Security Officer.

The petition, addressed to the Chief of Army Staff, alleges gross violation of Edafe’s fundamental human rights and demands immediate investigation, prosecution of the officers involved, and adequate compensation for the victim. The lawyers have given the Nigerian Army a deadline to respond, failing which they will seek legal redress and petition national and international human rights bodies.

The Nigerian Army has been called upon to take prompt action to address the allegations and ensure that such barbaric acts are not repeated. The incident has sparked outrage and raised concerns about human rights abuses by security personnel.
