Following several hours of intense discussions among the Federal Government, NUPENG, and Dangote group at 12:03pm on Tuesday afternoon, the meeting failed to build truce among conflicting groups.

However, this means NUPENG will continue with their strike, and the three-day warning strike by the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) remains in effect.

The warning issued to 43 unions of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is still active, and the threat from PENGASSAN and over 30 other unions affiliated with the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to join NUPENG in the strike remains unchanged.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Mohammed Dingyadi, provided a voice note to clarify the outcome of the closed-door meetings, further indicating concerns about a potential energy crisis in the country.

The meeting, originally scheduled for 10:00am on Monday, eventually began at 5:30pm. Attendees included the two Ministers of Labour, the acting General Secretary of the NLC, the Secretary General of TUC, the NUPENG President and General Secretary, Aliyu Dantata of MRS Company, representatives from the Dangote group, and officials from the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
