By Joseph Bienbo, Warri
The Society for the Welfare of Unemployed Youths of Nigeria has called on young Nigerians to utilize social media platforms to address unemployment and create opportunities.
Speaking at the organization’s 10th anniversary celebration, a guest speaker Comrade Warefa Pereke emphasized that a smartphone can be a powerful tool for success, serving as a classroom, marketing office, broadcasting station, and business platform.
The speaker spotlights strategies for using social media to start micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), including telling real stories, using the ‘Power of 10’ rule, tagging people, leveraging hashtags, and maintaining consistency.
Examples of successful Nigerian youths who have leveraged social media to build businesses were cited, including a phone repair technician who now trains others.
The event urged youths to learn digital skills, build businesses, and create jobs, emphasizing that the future of Nigerian youths depends on their creativity, courage, and digital power.
