THE APC TOWER OF BABEL IN DELTA STATE.

Hurray!!! Delta state is now an APC state. It’s heartwarming and quite exhilarating that Delta state has moved from the league of opposition states in Nigeria since the loss of the PDP at the centre in 2015. The euphoria that greeted the tsunamic movement across every strata of governance in the state is overwhelming.

However, i have my worries. Can there be a new wine inside a old wine bottle without an implosion or a corruption of the wine bottle? The All Progressive Congress, APC has its family and structures when organised on ground in Delta State as an opposition party working so hard to clinch power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the state. The situation therefore now is, what you’re looking for in Sokoto is now inside your sokoto. Should the Delta State APC therefore start singing the Hossanah songs? Is it all uhuru for the APC?

Going forward therefore, while the All Progressive Congress bask in the euphoria of this seeming success, it must be wary of the following:
Firstly, the mixing of the new wine inside the old wine bottle. If this is not properly considered the entire gamut may just be likened to the Biblical tower of Babel which came crashing even before the purpose of its building was concluded.

Secondly, the power sharing formula based on interests. The Delta State APC has been working so hard to put its ass in order for the 2027 General elections. Now that the Ukodo is here, what’s the sharing formula? If this is not well addressed, it could rock the boat even before it starts the sail.

Thirdly, the APC should not be oblivious of the possibility of discordant tunes even among the team of the august newcomers. There are people who moved with the party just to secure their Ukodo. The question now is, where’s the Ukodo for those who have been on ground in the APC?

In the same vein, this situation seems more like the rotten sepulchre. It looks beautiful and all good on the outside but, inside is the bones and rotten remains of human carcasses. I hope this does not end like the beautiful tower of Babel meant to reach to heaven but, ended up as a result of cacophony which led to its collapse.
