The world watched Oruetari commandeered to the sleeping forest
The world waited for her return to this earth, Ransomed or not.
A world of politicians, musicians and other sympathisers it was.

They are filled to the brim with thoughts of one good turn deserves Another
The world wailed when Oruetari did not return to this earth as quickly as demanded.

Takeme and his siblings beat a retreat and wailed no more when the world wailed for Oruetari
The world wailed and silenced the wailings of Takeme and his siblings.
Louder than Takeme and his siblings the world wailed.

The road bumpy and undulatory …
The road narrow, muddy and dusty to Takeme’s home…
The world risked the spikes on the road and wailed for Oruetari.
On the bumpy and undulatory road, the world walked like milipedes to Takeme’s home and let out a wail.

Spent one became like deflated tyres after a walk on the bumpy road
Yet the world went to wail for Oruetari without excuses.
Like ants in and out of wood, it was always coming and going on the undulatory road for Oruetari.
The coming and going on the road did not thin out until the star-studded canopy-dropping day.
Men and women were stars in the sky on the canopy-dropping day

The world wailed wildly on the day Oruetari left the world.
The world wailed because Oruetari was a worthy daughter of 84 years.

Takeme wailed ‘kau kau’ but stopped wailing when the visiting world wailed louder than him.
The world wailed and worshipped the worth of Oruetari on earth because she brought smiles upon her children.
Her virtues echoed through her fishing and unlicensed bank

Oruetari has walked away from Takeme and his siblings, leaving them hamstrung and cold.
The world waited and wailed Oruetari’s worth as a treasurer of all treasurers
The world waited and wailed Oruetari’s worth as a woman stuck to integrity like barnacles upon mangroves.

Oruetari is no more on this earth walked on by Takeme and his siblings.
Oruetari’s children weep no more because the world wailed louder than them in grief.
For Takeme and his siblings they are comforted by a wailing world;
In worth the wailing world told Oruetari’s story and wiped the grief-stricken tears of Takeme and his siblings
