In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Mr Odinga as a towering figure in African politics whose lifelong commitment to democracy, justice, and national unity left an enduring mark on Kenya and the continent.
The President praised the late Odinga’s courage in the face of adversity, resilience in pursuing electoral reforms, and unwavering belief in the power of the people, noting that his example would continue to inspire generations to come.
Tinubu further highlighted Mr Odinga’s stature as a statesman of international repute and a freedom fighter who embodied the ideals of Pan-Africanism and remained a firm advocate of inclusive governance and regional cooperation.
“His legacy will endure in the institutions he helped to shape and the democratic ideals he championed,” the President said. “We mourn with Kenya in this moment of national grief and stand in solidarity with you, President William Ruto, as you lead your nation through this painful chapter.
“May the memory of Raila Odinga continue to guide Kenya towards peace, unity, and progress,” the statement concluded.
