Tinubu Praises Nigerian Military’s Gains Against Insecurity at Japan Summit

By Diafa Doubra,
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has applauded the Nigerian Armed Forces for their recent strides in the fight against insecurity, describing their performance as critical to the nation’s stability and growth.
Speaking in Yokohama, Japan, at the opening of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), the president highlighted that Nigeria has begun to witness improved security outcomes, particularly in regions previously plagued by insurgency, banditry, and other forms of violent crime.
According to Tinubu, the military’s resilience and gallantry have significantly disrupted criminal networks, restored calm to several communities, and created a more conducive atmosphere for economic activity.
“Nigeria has faced grave security challenges in recent years, but I am proud to say that our armed forces have risen to the occasion. Their sacrifices are enabling us to build a stronger foundation for peace, development, and investment,” Tinubu said during his address.
The president stressed that while progress has been made, the government remains committed to strengthening security architecture through better funding, modern equipment, and international partnerships. He assured Nigerians and global partners that the country will not relent until insecurity is decisively defeated.
Observers at the summit noted that Tinubu’s remarks were strategic, aimed at reinforcing investor confidence in Nigeria. Security concerns have long discouraged foreign investment, but the president argued that ongoing improvements would make Nigeria more attractive to international businesses.
The president also used the platform to call for deeper collaboration between African nations and their international partners in addressing transnational threats such as terrorism, piracy, and human trafficking.
For many Nigerians, his comments are a morale booster, offering hope that the government’s security agenda is yielding results and that a safer environment for citizens and investors alike is within reach.
