Following the epoch celebration and International Peace Walk of Niger Delta living legend, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, the Delta State Coordinator of the Conference for the Actualization of Human Rights, CARH, Comrade Monday Enudi has described Tompolo as a detribalised leader in the region.

The Urhobo youth leader, Enudi who appealed that henceforth Tompolo’s birth anniversary should be celebrated across various states in the country said Tompolo is key to driving sustainable development in the Niger Delta region.

He also attributed the speaking space enjoyed by residents of the region to Tompolo’s frequent agitations for a better Niger Delta region.

The rights activist equally likened Tompolo to the late Mandela of South Africa, who suffered a 24-year life sentence due to his agitation to liberate the country from the Apartheid regime.

“Tompolo’s selfless sacrifices have surpassed what any average Niger Deltan can do in an individual capacity. A man who decided to remain in the creek and forest to continue to checkmate the activities of the oppressors should be celebrated,” he added.

While wishing Tompolo a birthday, Enudi appealed to the State and federal government to implement all demands of Tompolo and other agitators in the region during the signing of the peace accord to sustain permanent peace in the region.
