Military operations under the Joint Task Force, North East Flank, Hadin Kai (OPHK), have recorded another major success in the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign in Borno State, eliminating 12 suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters during coordinated operations in Mafa Local Government Area.

Security sources said that the operations, conducted between 29 and 30 August 2025, targeted terrorist hideouts in Tamsu Ngamdu, Dalakaleri, Gaza, and Loskori Kura communities.

The offensive, backed by aerial surveillance from the Air Component Command and supported by local security outfits, inflicted heavy losses on the insurgents.

According to a reliable security personnel who was not authorized to speak to the press, troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle upon arrival at Loskori Kura, where 12 insurgents were neutralized.

“During the offensive, troops recovered eight AK-47 rifles, eight fully loaded magazines with 7.62mm ammunition, as well as assorted drugs and medical supplies belonging to the terrorists,” the source said.

The operation, described as a long-range commando assault, has boosted the morale of troops and local security forces at the frontline.

Military authorities have commended the resilience of the troops, urging them to sustain the tempo of the onslaught against remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP in the North East.

Borno State has remained the epicentre of insurgency for over a decade, but intensified operations under Operation Hadin Kai continue to degrade terrorists’ capabilities and restore relative peace in liberated communities.
