Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued two immigration officers who were abducted by gunmen in Benue State. The officers were said to have been taken captive while on official duty along the Makurdi–Gboko highway last week.

According to a military source, the rescue operation was carried out after the troops received credible intelligence on the kidnappers’ hideout. The operation reportedly involved a coordinated effort between the army and local security operatives, leading to a gun duel that forced the abductors to abandon their victims.

Both officers were safely recovered and have since been reunited with their families after undergoing medical checks. Authorities say efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing kidnappers and dismantle their network within the area.

Residents of the community have commended the swift action of the troops, urging security agencies to maintain a strong presence to prevent future attacks.
