The U.S. President Donald Trump has stirred global attention after suggesting that the United States may take military action in Nigeria in response to what he described as “the killing of large numbers of Christians.”

Speaking during a press briefing at his Mar-a-Lago residence, Trump expressed deep concern over ongoing terrorist attacks in parts of Nigeria, saying Washington could consider both ground troop deployment and air strikes if the situation continues to worsen.

The statement has triggered diplomatic tension between the two nations, with many observers warning that such remarks could strain U.S.-Nigeria relations and raise questions about foreign interference in domestic security matters.

Trump emphasized that his administration’s focus would be on “protecting innocent lives and ensuring religious freedom globally,” adding that the world must “no longer turn a blind eye to persecution in Africa.”

Meanwhile, officials in Abuja have yet to issue an official response to Trump’s comments, though political analysts believe Nigeria’s government will likely push back against any suggestion of foreign military involvement.
