Udeme Otong Emerges 13th Speaker Of Akwa Ibom House of Assembly

Hon. Udeme Otong representing Abak State Constituency has been elected as the 13th Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
Speaker Otong polled 20 votes to defeat his opponent Prince Ukpong Akpabio, member representing Essien Udim State Constituency, who polled 6 votes.
The Speaker was nominated by Rt. Hon. Effiong Johnson, member representing Mbo State Constituency.
In his acceptance speech, Speaker Udeme Otong said that he was humbled and filled with joy and gratitude to the Almighty God for this special day in his life.
He extended his sincere gratitude to his colleagues for the confidence they reposed in him.
“I wish to thank my Distinguished Colleagues for finding me fit to be elected to the office of the Speaker of this noble Assembly. I appreciate the trust and confidence reposed in me. He stated
“I stand before you, Distinguished Colleagues and before this audience, to accept, with humility, my election and formal swearing-in as the 13th Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. Like the Psalmist would say; “this indeed is the day the Lord has made”, he added
However, Otong thanked the good people of Abak State Constituency for his victory of being the speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
