The Youth O’Clock Movement of Warri federal constituency in Delta State has condemned the continued detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), while citing the release of Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba separatist leader, as evidence of ethnic bias under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

In a press statement by Comrade Daniel Ezekiel who is vying for the reps seat of the constituency, the movement questioned why Kanu remains in detention despite court orders for his release, while Igboho walks free on similar charges of treason. “Justice must be blind, not tribal,” the statement read.

The group accused the government of selective justice, stating that the imbalance fuels distrust and deepens division in Nigeria. They demanded immediate compliance with court orders granting Kanu his freedom, equal treatment of all citizens, and an end to politicized security operations.

The movement warned that the continued detention of Kanu is a moral and political failure, and the Nigerian youth will not remain silent in the face of injustice.
