• There are more Clarks in Ijaw, Niger Delta

By Peters Monday, Abuja

The Ijaw People’s Development Initiative (IPDI) has issued a stern warning to the Arewa group over derogatory comments made about the revered High Chief late Pa Edwin Clark, the Ijaw national leader and elder statesman who died on Monday Night.

The IPDI condemned the group’s insensitive and disrespectful remarks, emphasising that such comments are unacceptable and provocative.

In a statement by its president Comrade Ozobo Austin asserted that the Ijaw nation still has many more Pa Clarks who will continue to champion the cause of justice, equity, and good governance. The group emphasised that the legacy of Pa Clark will live on, and his vision for a better Niger Delta will continue to inspire future generations.

The IPDI urged the Arewa group to retract their derogatory comments and apologise to the Ijaw nation, warning that failure to do so may lead to further tensions and consequences.

The statement reads, “don’t be fooling yourselves, Ijaw nation has more Pa Clarks in pen and in weapons. We will continue to resist every oppressive tendency in Nigeria. Your online post shows how immature and naive the Arewa group is. We are most disappointed to read the derogatory expressions or comments made by the Arewa group. Clark did nothing wrong to be mocked by an uncivilized group of people”, IPDI added.
