The 10th National Assembly, according to Mr Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, will work to positively address climate change-related issues.

This is stated in a statement on Saturday in Abuja in honour of the 2023 International Day of the Parliament and was signed by the deputy speaker.

The United Nations General Assembly resolution, according to Kalu, made the incident a global issue in 2018.

He claims that the Day gives parliaments the chance to evaluate how far along they are in accomplishing the objectives they have set for themselves in their respective jurisdictions.

He continued by saying that it also enables lawmakers to evaluate their progress in achieving objectives like recruiting more women and young people to serve in parliament and adjusting to new technological advancements.

The event in 2023, with the theme “Parliaments for the Planet,” was intended to mobilize lawmakers and make them more accountable and responsive to climate change issues and other related emergencies, according to the lawmaker.

The deputy speaker also explained that climate change was negatively affecting lives by destroying lives and property development as well as peace and security all over the world.
