We’ll Increase Tariff Next Week- Abuja Electricity Company Alerts Customers

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC has notified its customers to be expecting an increase in electricity tariff from July 1, 2023.
This is contained in a statement released on Sunday, June 25, AEDC said that the review was due to the fluctuation of the naira in the exchange rate.
It was said that under the 2022 guidelines, the earlier exchange rate of N441/$1 may now be revised to N750/$1 which will have an impact on the tariffs associated with electricity consumption.
It was maintained that for electricity users within Band B and C, with supply hours ranging from 12 to 16 per day, the new tariff is expected to be N100 per kWh, while Bands A with 20 hours and above and B, 16 hours to 20 hours, will experience comparatively higher tariffs.
However, customers with prepaid meters are encouraged to consider purchasing build energy units before month’s end as it will allow them to take advantage of the current rates and potentially make savings before new tariffs come into effect.
