The Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has revealed plans to sell off all of Nigeria’s refineries to businessmen when elected as president come 2023.

Atiku disclosed this in an exclusive interview with the Voice of America (VOA Hausa) during his visit to Washington DC, America.

According to him, “My position on this is not new, I already said years ago, I will sell them, because if you give it to the businessmen, they will run these refineries better.”

Atiku, also revealed how he would deal with the problem of oil theft when elected.

His words, “This is a different problem that we have to see how we can use the power of the government to stop it because there must be cooperation between the NNPC and the security agencies who are responsible to look after Oil pipelines laid.

“Nigeria is blessed with three oil refineries. One in Kaduna, Warri, and Port Harcourt.

Meantime, the investigation revealed that none of the above was working properly. Consequently, most of the refined oil used in Nigeria is imported from foreign countries.
