Wife Kidnapped, As Gunmen Kill INEC Staff in Ebonyi

A Yet-to-be identified suspected gunmen have killed an Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC Staff, simply identified as Emmanuel Igwe and kidnapped his wife, in the Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi state.

According to the report, the sad incident happened at about 7:30 pm on Sunday, June 19, 2023, when the couple was returning home from a visit to a friend.

It was reported that the gunmen reportedly opened fire on their vehicle, killed Igwe and kidnapped his wife.

Emmanuel before his demise was an assistant electoral officer in Afikpo North Local Government Area.

The incident was confirmed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya.

“We have begun a manhunt for the assailants. We are hopeful that they will be arrested. The victim was shot through the window of his car”. The state Public Relations Officer stated.
