Youth Advocate Slams Burutu Council Chairman Over Neglect, Poor Governance, Urges Communities to Rise Up
By Monday Peters, Abuja
A youth advocate from Burutu Local Government Area, has expressed deep disappointment over the deplorable state of his constituency, blaming Chairman Chief Julius Takeme for prioritizing personal interests over the communities’ development.
Paul lamented that despite Burutu’s rich oil and gas resources, the LGA remains underdeveloped, lacking basic amenities like tarred roads, healthcare, drinkable and consistent electricity. He urged residents to wake up and demand better governance, saying it’s time to end political oppression.
According to him, the Burutu general hospital and other public facilities are in a deplorable state, yet the council chairman chose to pay more attention to frivolity than fixing these collapsed structures.
He reiterated that the chairman Takeme has turned a disappointment for failing Burutu people, adding that the few substandard jobs he claimed to have executed were not commensurable to the federal allocation he had received overtime.
Paul challenged Takeme to mention in the clear term if he had projects worth one month allocation in Burutu council.
“The people of Ofougbene and other communities are suffering while their leaders focus on self-enrichment,” Paul said. “The Delta State Government must intervene and ensure Burutu’s resources benefit its people.”
