Zamfara: Bandits abduct councillors, village heads, kill retired teacher

Bandits have abducted two councillors and two village heads in Zamfara State, in Tsauni area of Gusau metropolitan, the state capital.
The abducted traditional rulers are the District Head of Gidan-Goga, Alhaji Sule Cili, and the Village Head of Taheta, Alhaji Abubakar while the kidnapped councillors were Surajo Dangaladima, representing Gidan-Goga Ward, and Rabi’u Bashari, representing Tsubiri Ward all in Maradun Local Government Area of the state.
Some of the residents interviewed said the traditional rulers were abducted from their homes, while the councillors were seized in Gusau.
Mallam Musa Sani one of the community members, said the bandits demanded N20m as ransom for the release of the two village heads but they are yet to state their conditions regarding the councillors.
“The bandits are demanding the sum of N20m on as ransom for the two traditional rulers but have remained silent on the issue of the two councillors,” Sani said.
The Bandits shut former vice principal of Birnin ruwa Government Secondary School Gusau, as he resist to be seized by the bandits.
A colleague to the retired teacher, Malan Zaharadden Umar said.
” The Bandits met him together with the two councillors abducted but he resist to be abducted and the Bandits killed him.
The Chairman of Maradun LGA, Sanusi Dosara, confirmed the incident, clarifying that the councillors were abducted in Gusau and not within the Maradun Local government.
The spokesperson of the Zamfara State Police Command DSP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the abductions and said, personnel had been deployed to track the criminals and rescue the victims.
“The command has deployed more personnel to ensure the release of the abducted persons,”
The police spokesperson Yazid Abubakar also urged residents to assist police with useful information.
