The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Zamfara State council described the enforced policy of no work, no pay to Nurses as unconditional and they will never allow such to continue.

The state chairperson, Comrade Sani Halliru Magajin Rafi stated this in an interview shortly after coming out from a meeting together with the harmonize committee set up by the state government under the state Head of Service, Sani Haidara.

“The action of the NLC on the enforced policy of No work, no pay, is an injury to one is an injury to all and we didn’t accept it. We told the committee set up by the Head of Service to discuss the matter that led to the constitutional right of nurses to go on strike.

“We will not allow this to continue, we have to revert it. Magajin Rafi said

The NLC Chairman, Comrade Sani Halliru Magajin Rafi also said, the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and midwives have earlier issued an ultimatum to the state government but no action was taken to address their grievances.

“The Nurses were given a right that if nothing is done after two weeks ultimatum they will continue with their industrial action which they did so. Therefore for the government to come out to enforce a policy of No work, no pay, is unconstructional. The NLC Chairman said.

The NLC Chairman said, they called on all the affected parties to embrace dialogue and solve the matter amicably.

“We called on both the government and the Nurses union to embrace dialogue because our people were currently in miserable conditions.

When asked on the outcome of the meeting, the NLC Chairman said, the state Head of service Yakubu Sani Haidara had decentralized the committee to meet with the Nurses and midwives union.

“The discussion was ongoing and we were to reconvene by 2:30pm and the committee was decentralized to meet with the Nurses. Magajin Rafi said.
