Zamfara State internal revenue services shut filling stations and pure water factories for shunning revenue

The Zamfara State Government closed all state filling stations and pure water factories in the state for alleged avoidance of revenue.

The action which enforced this evening threw people into hardship on their way back home after working hours.

Mal. Sani Muhammad an Okada rider said, people refused to board and patronize their services as usual due to the hike price of transportation which resulted from the scarcity of fuel.

“We bought fuel at hike price and people refused to accept the price because of the little increments, we are just scouting, running at lost, as you see from here I’m going back home to rest. Sani said.

Director of Information and Training Zamfara State Revenue service, Hadi Bawa when contacted on the phone said, they are currently in the meeting but confirmed the closure of the filling stations.

“We also heard about the closure of the filling stations and we are currently in a meeting about the issue therefore I can’t say anything. Bawa said.

Also contacted, the chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) in charge of Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi and part of Katsina states, Alhaji Surajo Yahaya Kamba confirmed the action taken on the filling stations in Zamfara state.

“The filling stations are closed but I don’t want to free empty what we will discuss tomorrow morning, we have a meeting by 11:00 am-12:00 pm of tomorrow morning, you can contact me later. Surajo Kamba said.
