Zelenskyy Rallies UK Support Ahead of Trump–Putin Summit

By Diafa Doubra,
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived at Downing Street today for highlevel talks with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, as Kyiv intensifies diplomatic efforts ahead of the much-anticipated Trump–Putin summit in Alaska. The meeting comes at a critical moment, with fears in Ukraine that the talks between the U.S. and Russia could result in a settlement that sidelines Ukrainian interests.
Starmer reaffirmed Britain’s “unwavering support” for Ukraine, pledging continued military and economic assistance, and stressing that any peace deal must respect Ukraine’s sovereignty. Zelenskyy, speaking after the meeting, thanked the UK for its steadfast backing and warned against “any compromise that rewards aggression.” The visit is part of a broader European tour aimed at shoring up allied unity before Washington and Moscow sit down to negotiate the war’s future.
