Three kidnapped victims have been freed by Katsina police.

On Saturday, men brandishing AK-47 rifles abducted them from Gogalo, a village in the state’s Jibia Local Government Area.

In a statement released on Monday, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, disclosed the information.

He claimed that in response to the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Jibia sent out a search and rescue team that diligently searched the surrounding bushes until the wee hours of Sunday.

The statement reads, “At around 0600 hours, the police team found the suspected kidnappers, which led to a heated gunfight. Even though the gunfight was fierce, the police were able to save all three of them.

The Katsina State Command’s Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the involved operatives’ extraordinary bravery and urged the public to remain alert and report suspicious activity as soon as possible. He emphasized the significance of acting quickly and forcefully to put an end to criminal activity in the state.

CP Musa also reminded locals to report anyone with questionable injuries as soon as possible, adding that some of the bandits managed to flee with gunshot wounds.
