36 Govs Meet over LG Autonomy, Minimum Wage

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) held a closed-door meeting in Abuja on Wednesday night, attended by 36 state governors. The meeting, presided over by NGF Chairman and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, focused on:
“Financial autonomy for local government councils, as granted by the Supreme Court.
“The new minimum wage, although not initially on the agenda.
“The United Nations General Assembly.
“State Contribution and Shareholder Rights in Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).
Presentations were made by the Minister of Health and Social Welfare and the World Bank Country Office. Governors from 24 states attended, with deputy governors representing Borno and Enugu states.
The meeting aimed to address critical issues affecting states and local governments, including financial autonomy, minimum wage, and electricity distribution.
