BREAKING: Tinubu-Shettima Shines As Supreme Court Dismisses PDP’s Suit Against Inauguration

By Sola Omoniyi, Lagos
The Nigeria apex court has on Friday May 26 dismissed the suit filed by opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP against the president elect, Bola Tinubu and his vice President, Kashim Shettima.
The supreme court affirmed that the president elect and his vice are eligible to contest the Presidential election that held on February 25, 2023.
The decision was made by a five-member panel led by Justice Adamu Jauro.
The court ruled that the PDP allegations lacked the legal rights to interfere in affairs of the All Progressives Congress, APC, which nominated both Tinubu and Shettima for presidential election.
However, the apex court upheld the concurrent decisions of the Court of Appeal and the Federal High Court in Abuja, which earlier dismissed PDP’s case.
The court maintained that the law does not permit a political party to dabble in domestic affairs of another political party.
