Police Nab Ondo Hospital Nurse, Staffs Over Missing Placenta

Presently, the joy over a newborn baby has been tainted with sadness as the men of Nigeria police, Ondo state command arrested a nurse, health assistant and security guard at Comprehensive Health Center, Emure-Ile, Ondo state, over the disappearance of a newborn baby’s placenta.
The incident was confirmed by the state police spokesperson, SP Olufunmilayo Odunlami.
SP Olufunmilayo stated that the three hospital workers were apprehended after the 23-year-old father of a newborn baby, identified as Tunde Ijanusi, made a complaint about the incident at the Emure-Ile Police Division Headquarters.
The 23-year-old father explained that his 19-year-old nursing mother gave birth to a baby girl on June 15, 2023, at the health centre and when he asked for the placenta, the nurse and her assistant could not provide it.
The father of the baby stated that he was worried after the nurse and her assistant who took the delivery failed to give him the new baby’s placenta.
It was, however, stated that a dog entered the hospital facility and took away the newborn baby’s placenta.
The paternal grandmother of the baby, Mrs Funmilayo stated that the excuse by the hospital is unacceptable, as the placenta of the baby tells more about the child’s glory and its dangerous to be in the wrong hand.
