Over 4,000 People Displaced as Rebel Groups Seize Towns in Sudan

More than 4,000 people have been forced to flee their homes after rebel groups seized control of several towns in recent attacks in Sudan, humanitarian agencies and local officials confirmed.

The displacement followed days of fighting that saw the rebel groups overrun communities in the affected region. Residents reported widespread panic, looting, and destruction of property as families fled with little or nothing.

According to aid workers, the displaced persons are now sheltering in nearby villages, schools, and makeshift camps, with urgent needs for food, water, shelter, and medical supplies.

“The situation is dire. Over 4,000 civilians have been displaced in just days and they have no access to basic necessities,” a local humanitarian official said.

Government forces have said they are mobilizing to restore order, while aid organizations are calling for safe humanitarian access to reach those affected.

The latest seizure adds to Sudan’s ongoing displacement crisis, which has already left millions homeless due to years of conflict.
